Registration Approaches

There are different approaches a site admin can take to allow people to register:

• Open Registration: Anybody can sign up without admin approval.
• Requiring Approval: Anybody can sign up, but the admin needs to approve the account before it can be used.
• Invitation Only: You need to be invited by someone who is already a member on this hub. The invitation email contains a code that needs to be entered during the registration process.
• Combination: The admin can combine the last two options (invitation and approval).

Tutorial Overview

The screenshots in this tutorial are from this hub, where I opted to use the invitation/approval combination since I'm planning to open it only for my real-life friends. The difference lies primarily in the registration process.

On a public hub, there's a link at the top left called "Register". If you receive an invitation from a hub that's open for registration, it will contain the registration link of that hub.

Registration Steps

The steps following after you click on "Register" depend on whether account creation requires admin approval:

No Approval Required

1. You will be redirected to a page where you need to enter a verification code.
2. This code is sent to the email address you provided.
3. The email will also contain an activation link, so you can either copy and paste the code manually or click the link.

Approval Required

1. You will see a notice at the top right of your screen stating that "Your registration is pending approval by the owner."
2. Wait for the admin to approve your account.
3. After approval, you will receive another email confirming your registration.
